See More Art!

I have found someone new to introduce you to!

Karen Margulis creates beautiful pastel and watercolour images that aren’t in any way “wishy-washy”. Her bold strokes and beautiful colours create lots of interesting places for your eye to wander. Karen’s pastel work gives you just enough information to get you interested, and no more, which is an art all by itself.

Her ”Waterlily” series stopped me in my web-browsing tracks. I love her combination of colours and the layers that she creates in the images. Pastel and watercolour are both stubborn and sometimes unforgiving mediums in their ways but you would never guess it from the way Karen handles them.

…but I stayed for her beautiful poppies.

Karen is another one of the daily painters I admire so much. She posts beautiful images of all sorts of interesting things, from landscapes to animals, and of course florals.

In her artist’s statement, Karen explains her unique vision and passion for art.

Our world is full of color and beauty.  Sometimes it is obvious like the majesty of the Grand Canyon.  But ordinary things can have a subtle beauty of their own.  Consider a path winding through the dunes or the moment the trees glow pink from the light of the setting sun.  I try to seek out these special places and moments in time and capture them in my paintings.  When I paint, whether it be on location or from my photographs, I am totally immersed in the scene.  With each stroke of my pastel, I try to express what is special and unique about my subject.  It is my hope that when someone looks at my paintings, they too can feel the peace I felt and appreciate the quiet beauty of our world.”

I hope you enjoy her work as much as I do. If you want to know more about Karen please pay a visit to her website.

PS: The images are shown here with permision of the artist. The first image is  entitled “Sunkissed” and the second image is entitled “Poppy Surprise”
